Queen Charlotte is a character in the ever loved Bridgerton franchise that went from book to TV series. She is captured as a side character but her character was so loved and seeked by the audience that the screen writer decided to run her own personal show depleting her romance with King George. Queen Charlotte’s outfits often involve restricting corsets, wide skirts, cinched waists, three-quarter-length sleeves, and massive wigs.
We can actually see the way fashion represents class as when Charlotte first arrives at the castle her hair is not as big and extravagant, in fact there is nothing much done with it. However when she becomes queen her hair is often styled very extravagantly compared to all the other characters in the series.
The time Bridgerton takes place was an era when the Black Community started being formally accepted by the government. Being the first Black person with power she obviously represented her community and we can see how her hair really puts those around her in place as dumb people with no class really need reminders from time to time. As she grows older the King unfortunately can’t attend to his duties due to his illness and she has to take charge in being The Queen of England. Aside from the judgement from people because of her race, she will also have to face the wrath of people who do not want to see women in power.
In a way with her extravagant hair I believe it shows class as it looks like it requires quite the amount of time to prepare and to give off the impression indeed the queen has the time in the world for it.
